The Carnegie Library Grant  for Ponca City was awarded in 1908, after statehood in 1907.

The Library was torn down in 1935.

The Twentieth Century Club, a ladies literary society, founded Ponca City Library in 1904, and it  was housed in the back room of an insurance agency. In 1908 a library board was organized, and they applied to Andrew Carnegie for a grant of $6,500 to build a new building.  The new library, located at Grand Avenue and Fifth Street, was opened in 1910.

By the late 1920s the Carnegie facility could no longer keep up with the expanding needs of Ponca City’s rapidly growing population.  Bonds were voted and a new library was built in 1934, and  the new library opened in 1935.  The Carnegie library building was destroyed in December 1935.
